Courtyard abrim with flowers and trees, on the outside a small, fragrant path
Side by side for four seasons, cut paper together on sunny days

When I was very very little, there was once a siheyuan (enclosed courtyard compound)
There lived myself and Nainai, along with a colorful cat
Back then, the small courtyard was full of flowers, underneath the stairs was green grass
My tiny hands held a book of 300 Tang and Song Dynasty poems

Nainai would teach me how to recite them, "white goose cranes its neck toward heaven and sings"
Once the sun was bright, she’d also teach me paper cutting
That’s the most unforgettable part of my past, it often appears in my dreams
So afterwards when I learned how to write, I wrote this poem
