While folks are working out the answers, this line from the clip ("五毒门在江湖上可以说是武林公敌") got me thinking that I wasn't clear on the difference between 江湖 and 武林. After some perusing, I found that 武林 specifically refers to the martial arts schools/sects, while 江湖 has a much wider scope and can include all sorts of figures from monks to beggars and others in between. But that both refer to circles of 武侠 society in some way. Am I getting that right?

Fun! I got the first question w/o looking at the transcript, but that was it.

Yes, I think that's a pretty accurate summary. 江湖 is basically society at large, but the wild and in some ways lawless part of society, with it's own rules and honour system etc.

Solid, imron. I award you one imaginary 中文挑战 ribbon. I think I would have had a tough time answering these.

Hehe, it helped that I'd picked up lots of related vocab from watching 武林外传 and reading 金庸.

Good clip, I hope to pick up some new stuff from this one.

Inspired by that clip, I checked our state's library for a copy of this movie to watch. Alas, the only version is dubbed.....
