I think you mean 我不用还. Also, I believe you need to end that sentence with 了.

Thanks for those corrections! The 要/用 wasn't a type-o on my part; it was a mistake. I just translated English "Don't have to" to 要, but I see now how something like "there is no need to" sounds better in Chinese.

Quick correction, that should be "我不用还他的iPad2了" or "我不用把iPad2还给他了".

I thought 牠 was for animals. If we're going to get specific, I mean.

I think 牠 is the traditional equivalent of 它.

I did not know that. This must be a case of many to one Trad to Simp, then, because according to Taiwan's MOE's Dictionary 它 gets used in Trad for "it":

This is dinosaur discrimination. T-Rexes are people, too.

So 它 and 牠 are both okay for animals?

它 should be used for animals when you're writing in simplified, 牠 should be used when you're writing in traditional.

And yes, I'm guilty of dinosaur discrimination and I'm not ashamed.
