She wasn't able to watch the 春晚联欢晚会, because she spent Chinese New Year in England.

I think 竹幼婷 was saying that people in 王菲's inner circle create high expectations for her, regarding the purity and accuracy of her voice.

It would be weird if Jay Chou wasn't off-key.

A perfect person.

There aren't any good hosts, there are only programs in which a host did a good job.

We shouldn't worship people.

- Why did he bring up Whitney Houston?

She's a good example of a person whose accomplishments should be lauded, but who isn't worthy of worship.

10. According to 马家辉, what does the audience expect of performers/athletes/singers/hosts/etc. these days?

Every time they perform, they ought to do better than they did last time.

11. What is 竹幼婷's reasoning for not agreeing with 马家辉 regarding audience expectations?

She believes that audiences are more forgiving as long as performers seem genuine.

- What's the difference between Faye Wong and Jeremy Lin (林书豪)?

王菲 is too proud; in contrast, 林书豪 is more humble.

For #6, the only additional detail that I might have added is that 竹幼婷 is usually in Taiwan where she can't watch the show. She says this really quickly and it was hard to hear. But the host, 窦文涛, also said even "your Jay Chou" was in the show. I had no idea that the show is blocked in Taiwan until I heard it here but it makes sense.

The other thing that I liked about this episode is that you get to hear 3 different accents: a more standard one from 窦文涛 (his bio says he‘s a 山东人 born in 河北), a Hong Kong one from 马家辉 and a Taiwan one from 竹幼婷.
