One fairly random photo of Chinese characters in action, per week, until sometime in 2018. And perhaps longer if I'm encouraged. Those who want to contribute their own random photos of Chinese characters are welcome, just get in touch and I'll add you to the contributor list so you can post directly, from computer or phone.

Four characters I thought, should be able to manage that, I'll give it a try... but no, aside from 不 and 车 I'm stumped!

Thank you for these, I really enjoy seeing, and attempting to decode, my daily reminder of the beauty of everyday written Chinese.

Glad you enjoy them. I'll give you a clue - there's a cardinal direction in there.

Often the case with these scribbled signs - the writer might not be a great writer, could be in a hurry and surprisingly often is determined to fit it all into four characters.

I often wondered about the determination to fit things into four characters and whether or not that was why 此门已坏 was always used, as that also never seemed like the best way of relaying that sentiment.
