Qcash3 Posted August 29, 2006 at 10:23 PM Report Posted August 29, 2006 at 10:23 PM I am arriving in Beijing next week, and I will need housing for about a week. I really don't want to spend more than $100 USD on housing for the week, but I will if necessary. Is there anywhere near Wudaokou where I could find such housing? Also, does anyone know if I would be allowed to register with my uni before the registration dates I received in the admission notice? Thanks. Quote
billiardsmike Posted August 30, 2006 at 10:41 PM Report Posted August 30, 2006 at 10:41 PM Good luck with trying to register early. I tried at BLCU and got laughed at. It's not easy doing things officially here, much less trying something irregular. I'll check with FSAC desk and see what they can do. Quote

galaygobi Posted August 31, 2006 at 01:00 AM Report Posted August 31, 2006 at 01:00 AM According to http://www.atthewu.com/ your best bets are probably HeJia Hotel (和家宾馆) or the HuaQingJiaYuan Hostel (华请嘉园招待所). Both places seem to have rooms for around 150rmb a night, while the hostel has rooms with shared bathrooms for 75rmb. I know both places are within the HuaQingJiaYuan compound which is just outside the East gate of Tsinghua. Quote

billiardsmike Posted August 31, 2006 at 07:23 AM Report Posted August 31, 2006 at 07:23 AM FSAC is 160 a night for a single, private. Sounds lilke the others will sork better for you, but if you want a room here, just let me know. I'll have them hold one. Quote
Qcash3 Posted August 31, 2006 at 03:59 PM Author Report Posted August 31, 2006 at 03:59 PM Thanks Mike, could you? Do you think I would be able to bargain the price down to about 100 a night? Although, I am only going to stay there for a week I want to try to save my money for buying a digital camera, which can be quite pricy. Quote
billiardsmike Posted August 31, 2006 at 08:46 PM Report Posted August 31, 2006 at 08:46 PM From what I've experienced, forget about bargaining here. The 160 is firm. If you tell me what day you're arriving, I'll take care of it. I know all about the digital camera problem. I had to buy one when the chain on my bike broke and I flew into the street, landing on my month-old camera. Quote
