billiardsmike Posted August 31, 2006 at 07:25 AM Report Posted August 31, 2006 at 07:25 AM I bought a prescription pair of sunglasses for 288 yuan. Quality was just as good as my normal pair ($350). Quote
Xiao Kui Posted August 31, 2006 at 05:15 PM Report Posted August 31, 2006 at 05:15 PM You can just bring a prescription from your home country and the optician in China should be able to read it, at least was able with my American one. I find the eye-testing to be less accurate than in my home country, but I could still see fine with the glasses I got, the image just wasn't as razor sharp as it is with new glasses in the States. So bringing the prescription from your own doctor is probably best, but if you have to get your eyes tested in China they do a pretty good job, especially for 5 RMB, which is how much the eye exam cost . I got a pair for 225 RMB (abt $28 US) that were the latest rimless style and they have held up for 2 yrs now. Since it was so cheap I went ahead and got an extra pair. I don't know how they do with special lenses for astigmatism, etc, but if you can translate that you have a special prescription they can probably grind out the lenses for it. Contact lenses are cheap, too. Quote
