Do you keep your computer in your dorm room?

If you're going to a Chinese university, did you bring along your laptop? Are computers generally safe from theft in a dorm or other college housing room?

It'd depend on how many are sharing the room. The more there are room mates, the less safe things such as laptops can be.

Both my Vietnamese roomie and I had laptops in the university hostel that we were staying. There were FuWuYuan who came to our room every morning to mop the floor, but as far as I know, they never stole a single fen from us. I was lucky to have a great roomie and developed guanxi with the people working at the hostel.

Living in a Chinese dormitory is another matter. My tutor had her mp3 player stolen by one of her roomie. 2 weeks later, one of her flatmate had her sneakers stolen.
