Forum Get-together, Friday 8th, 7:00pm

All of the related threads are getting a little old and people might not be keeping up with them, hence the new announcement.

All forum users (and non-users) are invited to a get-together Friday Sept. 8th at 7:00 pm at The International Beer Garden in Wudaokou. It's across from the train station, north of Chengfu Lu. Beer, food and non-alcoholic available in pleasant outdoor setting.

I will try and make it. I arrive on Wednesday and am studying at BNU. My first tasks, after registering and seeing if I can stand my flatmate, are to get a chinese SIM for my mobile and a bicycle. Once they're out of the way I'll be free to start socialising.

Lol, my bf and I just got back from Wudaoko a couple hours ago and I remember pointing out the international beer garden to him wondering if they have good beer. I think we will be there, don't think we have anything else planned. See you all there!

Just a thought. English reading materials can be a pain to get here. I'll bring 7-8 books I'm done with, for others to pick through at no charge. Bring yours if they're just taking up space.

Anyone interested in sharing a taxi from BNU? I know it's not far to Wudaukou, but I won't have a bike yet, nor do I expect to have had the time to test a bus route. Add a few drinks, and I shan't be wanting to chance it. Perhaps just on the way back...

Bus routes are pretty simple - the 726 from the BNU East gate (cross pick-pocket bridge) will take you right along the BLCU - Wudaokou strip. Coming back the 331 is also an option and runs later, but I think on the way up there it takes a different route and doesn't get you right to where you want to be. Some 826's follow the 726 route, but not all.

You're close to a couple of train stations as well. I'd tell you which ones but the print on my map is small, it's late and I've had a couple of cocktails to induce sleep. The train stops across the street from the beer garden.

In Singapore just for 7 hours. Enough time to meet a friend for dinner before getting my overnight flight to Beijing. God I'm going to be sleepy when I arrive and, from all accounts, all I have to look forward to is a few hours of queueing at BNU, registering for stuff. Hey ho.

Panda - you still getting taxi there? We have bikes (plus a spare one!) so maybe riding there is ok. But not sure about riding back though...
