teachinator Posted September 2, 2006 at 09:40 PM Report Posted September 2, 2006 at 09:40 PM Two questions, really, for people who've used travelers checks at BLCU and elsewhere in China. 1) Does BLCU charge a fee if you pay your tuition with travelers checks? Their FAQ says they accept travelers checks and there is no mention of a fee, but the (Chinese) teller at my bank in the U.S. said she was sure they would charge one. If so, how much is it? 2) After I got my travelers checks, I read a warning here that said to be sure the name you signed on the check matched the name on your passport exactly. My passport has my full name (first, middle, last), but I signed my travelers checks with just my first and last name. Is this really going to be a problem? I can't turn them in and re-do them -- I'm leaving for China tomorrow! Quote
billiardsmike Posted September 3, 2006 at 04:19 AM Report Posted September 3, 2006 at 04:19 AM Bank of China didn't care about the signature matching the passport, just as long as the countersignatures on the checks matched. They may have charged a fee, but I opened an account at the same time and had about 14 documents, so I may have missed it. Quote
