novemberfog Posted September 3, 2006 at 12:59 AM Report Posted September 3, 2006 at 12:59 AM I recently downloaded the QIM system for inputting Chinese. Whenever I try to switch to QIM for my input system, it causes Finder to crash, and brings all of my other applications down as well. I tried downloading it again and installing it, but I get the same problem. Is anyone else having this problem, and if so, is there a way to resolve it? Thanks. Quote
doumeizhen Posted September 3, 2006 at 04:18 AM Report Posted September 3, 2006 at 04:18 AM I just downloaded QIM, installed it, and it was fine. Sorry I can't be of more help. When I first started using Chinese input other than QIM (the standard ones) my computer would freak out sometimes and freeze or involuntarily quit applications. After using them and adjusting settings this stopped. How are you doing on memory? Also, go into system preferences, international, and add the other Chinese inputs to your list. Try switching to them first and then switching over. Or maybe QIM as the standard since you can set it to roman input (or just leave caps on) to type ROman characters. Good luck! Quote

novemberfog Posted September 3, 2006 at 10:42 AM Author Report Posted September 3, 2006 at 10:42 AM Thank you! I upgraded to the version you linked to, and it seems to be working now. It is so much nicer than Apple's input system! Now if only it supported traditional character input. Quote
