jinjin Posted September 7, 2006 at 04:58 AM Report Posted September 7, 2006 at 04:58 AM Hi: My boyfriend is coming to visit me in Beijing in January or February. Would it be cheaper for me to buy him a roundtrip ticket in Beijing rather than buying the roundtrip ticket in the States? If it's cheaper in Beijing, do I contact a travel agent or how do I buy tickets? Two friends may also be coming along and I was thinking that you might be able to get a deal through a travel agent when purchasing three roundtrip tickets--any thoughts? Anyone know how much it costs to fly roundtrip from Beijing to Shanghai or Taiwan or wherever? We were thinking about going other places too while he was in China. Any ideas on where else to visit (that doesn't necessarily involve flying) would be nice--he wants to see as much as China as possible. Quote
Tyr Posted September 7, 2006 at 05:33 AM Report Posted September 7, 2006 at 05:33 AM A good friend of mine just got a great deal on round trip tickets from Seattle to Beijing at AA Travel: A A Travel 601 S King St Seattle, WA (206) 467-9303 I highly recommend you check it out. The people who work there are very friendly (ask for Vicky). I also recommend the duck and BBQ pork next door and the bubble tea across the street. As for where to go I don't know....I've never been Quote
liuzhou Posted September 7, 2006 at 07:39 AM Report Posted September 7, 2006 at 07:39 AM China is possibly the most expensive place in the world to buy air tickets! Avoid where possible! Quote
ocpaul20 Posted September 7, 2006 at 08:22 AM Report Posted September 7, 2006 at 08:22 AM I got some good deal online British Airways to London last february and it was only 200rmb more expensive than a local travel agent, (the benefit was I got to book the seat etc online - which was changed by them at the last minute for a worse one anyway!) however the best thing about tickets here is that you can book them and then pay for them or cancel them a week before you go. In the UK we have to pay immediately for any ticket we want, otherwise we cant book it. bastards. :-) Quote
