try/test one's patience

How would you say "to test one's patience" (or "to try one's patience") in Chinese?

My dictionary actually has as an example:

You're trying my patience! = 你在考验我的耐心!

but that sounds rather... literal

Is there a better way to say it?

For "you're trying my patience" i once heard a parent say to one of my friends:

“一个人的耐心是有限制的”

I suppose she was implying that this limit was about to be reached and my friend should stop testing it.

But that doesn't really help with a general verb "to try one's patience"...

Thanks Quest - i should probably have pointed out that i was reaching back to a 3 year-old memory so some inaccuracy could have crept in.
