leosmith Posted September 24, 2006 at 03:23 AM Report Posted September 24, 2006 at 03:23 AM I'd like a list of the 2000 or so most frequently used chinese words. I want to put them into excel and make supermemo flashcards out of them. I only need pinyin(or wade giles)/english for right now; I'm trying to learn pronunciation. I'd also like a list of all the syllables, in pinyin (or wade giles). Anybody know where I can find these? Thanks, Leo Quote
gato Posted September 24, 2006 at 03:43 AM Report Posted September 24, 2006 at 03:43 AM These two word lists might be helpful. http://www.chinese-forums.com/showpost.php?p=74371&postcount=5 Quote
leosmith Posted September 24, 2006 at 09:01 PM Author Report Posted September 24, 2006 at 09:01 PM Thanks Gato. But I only saw bi-grams (2 character words) here. Does any body know of a list that includes all types of words? Is there a chinese proficiency test that publishes a list of words students need to know to pass it, perhaps? Quote
gato Posted September 24, 2006 at 11:50 PM Report Posted September 24, 2006 at 11:50 PM Here are the vocab lists for the Chinese proficiency test sponsored by the Chinese government (HSK). http://www.chinese-forums.com/vocabulary/ HSK vocabulary database http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/7302-hsk-3-vocab-project&highlight=hsk+word+list HSK 3 Vocab Project The vast majority of words on these lists are 2-character words, as well. That's in fact a characteristic of Chinese. Quote
leosmith Posted September 25, 2006 at 12:55 AM Author Report Posted September 25, 2006 at 12:55 AM Excellent. I saw this before, but couldn't figure out how to use it. Two questions: 1. Is level 1 the most basic? 2. Is the number that comes out on top of the list the number of words? Thanks, Leo Quote
roddy Posted September 25, 2006 at 01:00 AM Report Posted September 25, 2006 at 01:00 AM Yes twice, although the number is only there because I put it in when doing some trouble shooting once and forgot to take it out Quote
