I was just on a Chinese chat forum and someone posted this line:

偉哥等我有去中囯不是可以見面咯！

What is the function of the 有 in this sentence, and is this considered to be standard Chinese grammar?

I know chat forums aren't a good place for learning formal Chinese, but they are certainly a good resource for learning street language.

I would take 有 in it as reasonable if it's mingnanese grammar .

Not Cantonese. In Cantonese the sentence would become: 伟哥等我【下次】返/再去中国【我哋】咪（contraction of 唔係 -- 不是）可以見面啰！

Btw the phrase "去中国" in Chinese sounds a little foreign to me for some reason...

Oh, also I dont understand why the "or Cantonese" would come into play here. achiese said there's a rule in minnanhua not Cantonese. If you dont know of such a rule in Cantonese, why "especially ... by Cantonese?"

Thanks for your replies, everyone. This clears up for me that it is not standard putonghua, regardless of whether it is dialectal or just a typo.

However, I am a bit confused about the meaning now.

不是可以見面 cannot meet (meet what?)

等 etc./wait (which one is it here?)

in this case, 咯 carries the same meaning as 吗.

here's the part breakdown:

等我有去中国: when i go to china

不是可以見面咯/吗?: won't we be able to meet?

so it'll be like saying 'won't we be able to meet when i go to china?'

等我有去 is like saying 'when i go ...'

like:

等我有去学校我才告诉老师。

i'll tell the teacher when i go to school.

Anyway, use 有,like the example in this thread, with discretion.Because it seems a typo mistake more than dialect indeed.

If 有 means 'have (done)' , it should appear in informal Chinese at areas like Taiwan, Fujian,Guangdong and even Guangxi, or rather when people there speak Mandarine in their way (i don't mean speak their dialects).
