AmGuy Posted October 2, 2006 at 02:12 AM Report Posted October 2, 2006 at 02:12 AM Hello all, this is my first post and I have some questions. I am from the U.S. and will be in Beijing for a few months for work. I am staying at the Rosedale. Heres the web addy http://www.rosedalebj.com Anyways, I have emailed the hotel and the help is horrible. Does anyone have any impressions with this hotel? if its too bad I will get an apartment. Also what should I expect from their internet service? Does the Chineese government block any sites like gambling, bit torrents, internet messangers, or ack ...do I say Adult sites? Like I said, I am new so any info is greatley appreciated! Quote
onebir Posted October 2, 2006 at 09:55 AM Report Posted October 2, 2006 at 09:55 AM I've never been in, but i've walked past it. It's a multi-starred international hotel - i imagine it's more than fine. Location's not great for central beijing though - it's in the northeast and traffic bottlenecks on the roads between there and the centre in the rush hours. Perhaps wise to check if it's relatively close to where you'll be working.... Lido Hotel is another big international hotel in the same area if the area's convenient... Quote
trevelyan Posted October 2, 2006 at 02:56 PM Report Posted October 2, 2006 at 02:56 PM I always thought the place was a bit run down. I know that whoever used to own the building used to rent out its room as apartments, and they were definitely not luxury apartments. Maybe they renovated the building. Quote
AmGuy Posted October 3, 2006 at 04:33 AM Author Report Posted October 3, 2006 at 04:33 AM Rundown!? Ugh...thats the default hotel my employer has selected. I guess its kindof like apartments because there is more than just me getting a room(for up to a year). So seriously.....would I have trouble connecting to the internet? I have no clue if the government would sensor my internet surfing, and Im worried about that. I belong to certain forums as a MOD, and would hate to not be able to participate, because of "restrictions". Quote
