Dennis Valdez Posted June 10, 2006 at 04:24 AM Report Posted June 10, 2006 at 04:24 AM I will be moving to Beijing in July and was wondering if I should bring my skydiving gear with me. Anyone know if there are any dropzones (i.e. airports with skydivers) in or around Beijing??? -Dennis Quote
bhchao Posted June 11, 2006 at 12:30 AM Report Posted June 11, 2006 at 12:30 AM good luck trying to make it through the dust and smog-filled air while you're up in the sky. Quote
Craig Posted June 11, 2006 at 01:03 AM Report Posted June 11, 2006 at 01:03 AM I looked and didn't find anything, nor it anything listed in the insiders guide. While Bungee jumping offers a few locations, and microliting and Hang gliding has one that i know of I've not seen or heard of any DZs in the area. Quote
onebir Posted June 18, 2006 at 07:05 AM Report Posted June 18, 2006 at 07:05 AM i think the combination of extreme sports and chinese safety standards deserves a new moniker - something like 超级extreme sports Quote
johnmck Posted October 10, 2006 at 09:02 AM Report Posted October 10, 2006 at 09:02 AM Send an email to Dennis Valdez, he may have found one. Although the chances do not look good: http://www.dropzone.com/dropzone/Asia/index.html Quote
Dennis Valdez Posted October 10, 2006 at 02:25 PM Author Report Posted October 10, 2006 at 02:25 PM but I have failed to find any officially sanctioned dropzones in China. I have however spoken with a jumper here in Beijing (during a HASH run) who though his connections with Chinese friends, has jumped here in China. According to him, there is a small group of skydivers (ex-pats, but mostly ex-military Chinese jumpers) who every now and then are able to organize a plane for a day or a weekend in random parts throughout China. It is therefore possible to jump in China, but it doesn't happen regularly and you must have the right connections. As for me... i'm going to start flying back to the U.S. on a much more regular basis to get my 'fix'. It's been 4 months too long since I've jumped and I'm itching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -Dennis Quote
