badr Posted October 11, 2006 at 01:27 PM Report Posted October 11, 2006 at 01:27 PM save for a few spots I heard off in Wudaokou, I only know yugong yishan as a good place for live rock when they have actual rock bands playing. Browns on saturday nights gets pretty darn heavy with stuff like AC/DC, system of a down, prodigy and even the occasional NIN Quote
karmakid Posted October 15, 2006 at 05:34 AM Report Posted October 15, 2006 at 05:34 AM club13 - ChengFuLu (same as BLCU south gate) D22 two clubs around WDK playing rock. A couple of times a month they also host live concerts. Quote
crow610 Posted October 16, 2006 at 01:10 PM Report Posted October 16, 2006 at 01:10 PM Are these bands actually playing cover songs or just a DJ playing the music? I asked a guy at some music store near BNU about rock in BJ and he said that I'd be best to go to a bar in WuDaoKo. Quote
梅克立 Posted October 30, 2006 at 03:16 PM Report Posted October 30, 2006 at 03:16 PM 无名高地 is a pretty good rock/punk club. I had a hell of a time getting the taxi driver to go there even with directions so grab a copy of "That's Beijing" and try to find it in there. I am fairly certain it is in Chaoyang so if you are in the wudaokou it's gonna be a hike. Quote
roddy Posted October 30, 2006 at 03:37 PM Report Posted October 30, 2006 at 03:37 PM It's not in Chaoyang, it's in Yayuncun - see Nameless Highland map here (and note they've opted to put north at the top). Does make it a lot closer to Wudaokou. Quote
palindrome Posted November 2, 2006 at 01:22 PM Report Posted November 2, 2006 at 01:22 PM I went to 无名高地 a couple of weeks ago and it was good fun. I *think* the name of the band playing was nameless stars. They're there most Sundays, I think. It was all original music, not covers, except for a seemingly endless cover of "With or Without You." Their style was somewhere between poppy metal and crunchy indie rock It's an easy walk from the bus stops on the N 4th ring road in Yayuncun. I can't remember which bus I took, but it probably wouldn't help you anyway because I was coming from Zhongguancun, not Wudaokou. Quote
