hildetsj Posted October 11, 2006 at 08:13 PM Report Posted October 11, 2006 at 08:13 PM HI, I am new here and I am Belgian, studying Chinese. Now the book we follow in class is English, as there are no Dutch books available to study the chinese language. It is not that easy because English is also not my first language. But it is okay, it has to be, since there is no other book. Does anyone know of a good CD or DVD maybe in Dutch? Just wondering because there must be more Dutch speaking people trying to study chinese. If dutch is not available, can anyone tell me of the best audio, or mp3 or DVD to master the 4 tones. I have such a hard time hearing the difference. At times it seems as though I am studying 3 languages now...english and pinyin and chinese characters...I am okay, but I do need help...i do study every day , but boy is this hard to master. Anyway, it feels good to be here. Thank you Hilde Quote
Lu Posted October 12, 2006 at 03:02 PM Report Posted October 12, 2006 at 03:02 PM Didn't read this myself, but I think dit boek is just what you're looking for. Edit: Website van het boek zelf. The same author also wrote a book about Chinese grammar, for when you've mastered the tones :-) Quote
leosmith Posted October 12, 2006 at 03:26 PM Report Posted October 12, 2006 at 03:26 PM Hi Hilde, I know you prefer stuff in Dutch, but let me tell you the english stuff I'm using. This is the only audio pinyin table I know of that has correct pronunciations, including tones: http://lost-theory.org/chinese/phonetics/ This is a site that explains very well how to make the tones (important things, like where your tongue should be, etc): http://www.sinosplice.com/lang/pronunciation/04/ This one is very good for listening practice (I especially like the "choose the tone combo"): http://pinyinpractice.com/tones.htm I'm getting Pimsleur Mandarin I any day now: http://www.amazon.com/Chinese-Mandarin-Pimsleur-Language-Programs/dp/0671790617/sr=8-1/qid=1160666119/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-8900593-3975944?ie=UTF8&s=books There's a list of Pimsleur vocabulary available: http://zdt.sourceforge.net/main/wordlist_index/ And Pimsleur transcripts: http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/9343-full-transcript-for-pimsleur-i-lessons-15-30&highlight=pimsleur I hope others will post some more for you. There's got to be some Dutch stuff out there. Good luck, Leo (edit: oops - I see Lu outposted me) Quote
