keb1717 Posted October 24, 2006 at 09:19 PM Report Posted October 24, 2006 at 09:19 PM The artist who created the image below was intending a Chinese translation of the quote "Character is destiny" - did the artist get it right? and if not, what would the correct translation be? Thank you in advance for your help. Quote
studentyoung Posted October 25, 2006 at 09:00 AM Report Posted October 25, 2006 at 09:00 AM Well, I am sorry that I haven’t had any idea on the meaning of “操守缘” so far. As for “Character is destiny”, it is 性格决定命运 in Chinese. Thanks! Quote
HashiriKata Posted October 25, 2006 at 09:20 AM Report Posted October 25, 2006 at 09:20 AM studentyoung is absolutely right with a direct translation but I think the artist may have used “操守缘”as a less direct one. From the dictionary, 操守 is glossed as "personal/ moral integrity" and 缘 is a kind of "(indirect) cause" as in "cause and result", so there is some hint of a translation there. Quote
