Daniel Primed Posted October 26, 2006 at 05:22 AM Report Posted October 26, 2006 at 05:22 AM Funk, I get the impression that its not a very popular type of music in China. I asked my 3x Chinese teachers at my school, 2x dictionaries and our schools exchange student yet none of them know what the word 'funk' in Chinese is. Does it exist? Quote
roddy Posted October 26, 2006 at 05:27 AM Report Posted October 26, 2006 at 05:27 AM Try 放克, but as you've found it's not a term you can expect everyone to know. Quote

Only agreement here is that you need to say "James Brown 的 FUNK" for people to understand where you're coming from in the first place ... 9 chinese speakers, no agreement (which is interesting that they know George Clinton and James Brown but they don't know what the actual 音乐风格 ... ). going to shanghai later this week, hopefully a musician will know the answer... ^^ PM me for samples of funk music if you want...
