billiardsmike Posted October 28, 2006 at 05:47 AM Report Posted October 28, 2006 at 05:47 AM Cold season is here and I was already home before noticing that one of the medicines the clerk had gotten me to buy was zhong yao. My dictionary shows xiao yan pian as an anti-inflammatory. Any reason why I would take this for a cold? Quote
piripiri Posted October 28, 2006 at 07:26 AM Report Posted October 28, 2006 at 07:26 AM anti-inflammation = antibiotics in a way, may not kill the germs, but should shooth your pain Quote
quanxie Posted October 28, 2006 at 11:20 AM Report Posted October 28, 2006 at 11:20 AM Hard to explain why but, here goes, you should not take xiaoyao pian during the peroid a common cold... In Chinese medicine terms, which do not include words like, "inflamation" or "common cold". It is usually diagnosised as an "external attack" of a cold or hot nature. You should use a formula that help your exterior defense system rid the hot/cold evil from your body... Xiaoyao is a formula that help the middle part of your body and if you take it during an attack of your exterior it could help the hot/cold evil get into the interior of your body.. Quote
