Ian_Lee Posted November 1, 2006 at 12:54 AM Report Posted November 1, 2006 at 12:54 AM Just don't know if it falls under the right topic. Yanbian-mal is the Korean dialect spoken by the 2 million ethnic Koreans in Yanbian in China's Northeast. It somewhat varies from the Korean language spoken in South Korea and lately people from Yanbian and their dialect have become hot topics in South Korea. In the Korean Drama "Pure-19" shown on Korean TV, both folks from Yanbian (many got work visa and stay in Seoul) and Yanbian-mal are being teased. However, it seems that the linguistic difference will be narrowed due to frequent exchange, i.e. the ethnic Korean anchors and DJs from Yanbian work in Seoul stations and network TVs and vice versa.
