General help with my Chinese?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so in order to practice my Chinese some more, I've started a blog for myself, and figured that I'll translate as much of it as I can into Chinese.

That sounds like a good idea, until I realised that I needed people to critique my Chinese...

So if anyone has a few spare moments to scan my LJ and tell me how good (or bad) my Chinese is, I'd really appreciate it.

Currently, only the first and last entires actually have any Chinese in them. Also, when searching for words I didn't know, I used ChineseTools.com's Online Dictionary. Sadly, that doesn't have a complete guide to all the words, so I had to take a guess in some cases. If the Chinese doesn't make any sense, read the English part of it, and see if that helps you understand what I was trying to say.

I'm also not sure where this post should go... It relates to reading and writing, but also to Grammer, and just general Chinese Practice... So I'll leave it here for now.

Thanks all.

Hmm… I would like to offer my translation, so that you can compare yours with mine.

So, it looks like I've managed to get a job. I thought the interview had gone alright, but that it wasn't anything special. Then, after I went home, I realised they didn't have my contact details. Fuck. Big fuck. But I decided that I probably shouldn't do anything about it. The fact that I had forgotten them was, I decided, probably a big enough fuck-up that that they wouldn't want me.

我有一个工作。我很高兴。我思考我的晤面好了,可是不很好。我回家了,我明白我没跟他们我的详情。我很不高兴。我给他们不打个电话。我不思考得那个工作。

这么着看起来,似乎我找到工作了。我想面试很顺利,但那也没啥希奇的。然后,回到家,我才发现我没把自己的具体联系方式给他们。糟糕,太糟糕!我想我该就此做罢了。我认定我忘了给联系方式,这简直是糟糕透顶,他们准不会录取我。

I was wrong. Wow! Anyway, I got a call from Student Job Search (SJS) this morning, saying that the people I had had an interview with had called, saying I'd not left my contact details. The person from SJS said they sounded pretty keen to get in contact with me, so she gave me a number to call, which I did, and left my name and numbers on voicemail.

So if anyone has a few spare moments to scan my LJ and tell me how good (or bad) my Chinese is, I'd really appreciate it.

I think maybe you can improve your Chinese by reading more good bilingual articles. The link below is a good choice, I think.

Thanks for that. I'll find a dictionary and work through that at some point. Part of the problem is that I need to be able to generate Chinese, and apply the grammer patterns that I know, and that sort of thing. While passively reading Chinese is fine, I need to practice generating it myself, which is what I'm trying to achieve here. I can expand on that more, if you like. Also, trying to translate stuff that happens in my daily life is probably the best way for me to acquire vocabulary items that I'll use frequently.

If anyone thinks differently, I'd be interested to hear what you think.

Also, that page you linked to seems quite empty, for some reason. Does it not like Firefox or something?
