Jonny Wang Posted November 2, 2006 at 02:56 AM Report Posted November 2, 2006 at 02:56 AM How do you write (and say) "not applicable" or "N/A" in Chinese (e.g., when filling out a form)? Also, how would you write "pick an item from the list" or "pick/select from the list" (also when filling out a form) Thanks for the help! Quote
skylee Posted November 2, 2006 at 05:29 AM Report Posted November 2, 2006 at 05:29 AM 不適用 for "not applicable" or N/A. Consider 選擇一項 for "pick one item"; 從清單中選擇一項 for "pick one item from the list"; 從清單中選擇 for "pick from the list". Quote

Jonny Wang Posted November 2, 2006 at 06:11 AM Author Report Posted November 2, 2006 at 06:11 AM Skylee, For the sake of curiosity, what's the difference between 清单and 列表? When is each used? Are there other words for "list"? Quote
skylee Posted November 2, 2006 at 01:00 PM Report Posted November 2, 2006 at 01:00 PM I can't explain the difference. 清單 was used because it was the term that came up in my mind. I think that 列表 is also ok, but I would prefer 清單. I think I would use 列表 if it is a table / schedule of multiple columns and rows. Quote
