amandagmu Posted November 3, 2006 at 08:44 PM Report Posted November 3, 2006 at 08:44 PM Hello, I'd like to start a thread of how and where to look for funding to go to China. I am a doctoral student in the United States and am looking to go to IUP in Beijing (or a similar program) for sometime next year. I have heard only of the FLAS grants (which unfortunately my university does not offer) and the Blakemore foundation. I am also aware that I might be able to get some minimal funding from the IUP program itself. However, the tuition is ridiculous -- maybe $13,000. As a graduate student in modern Chinese history I am hoping to find another source of funding. Because the program is rigorous and I would like to spend any other spare time I have in China (ha) in the archives looking at sources, I will not have the chance to teach English while I'm there or find another job. Basically, I need the money. Post anything you think might be relevant here. Thanks! Amanda Quote
FSO Posted November 4, 2006 at 01:59 AM Report Posted November 4, 2006 at 01:59 AM If you are interested in government work after graduation, the National Security Education Program is an excellent source of funding. They also have a National Flagship Language Program for Chinese. Quote
