ai_ya Posted November 5, 2006 at 03:41 PM Report Posted November 5, 2006 at 03:41 PM I am considering about studying in this university (studying Chinese), and have a few queries about the entry requirements. The website says HSK level 3 is necessary for entry, but on the actual application form it mentions no such thing. Also, as I live in the U.K is it not very convenient for me to take the HSK exam. Saying this, I have passed A-level Chinese at a grade B mostly from self study, and was wondering if this would be accepted as a subsitute. Thanks for any help. Quote
djwebb2004 Posted November 7, 2006 at 11:15 AM Report Posted November 7, 2006 at 11:15 AM ER........Why is taking the HSK inconvenient for you? The test is held in the UK. Quote
sei_shoganon Posted January 23, 2007 at 08:57 PM Report Posted January 23, 2007 at 08:57 PM Hi ai_ya, I am considering Sichuan University, too. If I am interpreting this correctly, SU has a "new" four-year Chinese language degree course that does not require a certain HSK score (i.e., you can start from scratch, as it were). Another page on their website provides contradictory, probably older, information. The application indeed says nothing about HSK, but I am going to email someone at SU to be safe. http://www.scu.org.cn/iohomepage/students/cll.htm Quote
hunxueer Posted February 7, 2007 at 12:41 PM Report Posted February 7, 2007 at 12:41 PM i think they have two programs: one is the four-year bachelor's degree course, and the other is the random, as-you-like style. sichuan university seems to be the most popular university among foreigners studying chinese in chengdu, but there are others here that you could look into as well, if you're bent on coming to chengdu (sichuan uni is also the most expensive, that i know of). a few more that have programs (a search on google should turn up their web pages): southwest university of finance and economics southwest university for minority nationalities (there are two programs on this campus; one for foreign students in china, and another called USAC that is a study-abroad program, costs about eight times what the local program does, and is run on u.s. universities' schedules) sichuan university of electronics and technology (?) dianzi ke da sichuan normal university Quote
