alidoll Posted November 5, 2006 at 04:40 PM Report Posted November 5, 2006 at 04:40 PM Hello, I was in Kunming this summer and stayed at the Camellia Hotel. I made friends with the woman in the beauty shop there where I got massages etc. She was a lovely woman, but did not speak a word of English and I did not speak any Chinese. Through the international language of sign, she wanted me to take photos with my digital camera of the salon and ones of me and her since we laughed a lot together (not really knowing what we were laughing at !) I have had them developed and want to send them to her but am concerned that if I address it in English, it will not get there. Could someone please type the address below in Chinese and I will copy it to word, make it larger and attach it to the envelope. Beauty Shop Camellia Hotel NO.96 East Dongfeng Road Kunming Yunnan China Thank you very much - you will make a Chinese lady very happy when she gets the pictures !! Quote

Lu Posted November 6, 2006 at 03:58 PM Report Posted November 6, 2006 at 03:58 PM I'd say the first one, by stBLCU, is best. Chinese addresses go from big to small, country - province - city - street, not like in the West where it's from small to big. Also, when addressing a letter to China it's not necessary, and maybe even a bad idea, to say you mean 'mainland' China. Quote
alidoll Posted November 6, 2006 at 04:16 PM Author Report Posted November 6, 2006 at 04:16 PM Thanks again and to StBLCU, I did not see you reply yesterday because of the advertising - so a personal thank you The letter went away today with Chinese and English on it - so let's hope it gets there !
