赫杰 Posted November 5, 2006 at 06:11 PM Report Posted November 5, 2006 at 06:11 PM Hi all! Sorry if this has been asked before or mentioned, but I used the search and could not really find anything so... I am looking for a GOOD Chinese book or online source for synonyms and "written Chinese", perhaps a compilation of common adjectives and words in written Chinese, or even maybe a 口语与书面语对照, you know? Something like this... I don't know about you guys, but when writing in English I often use the thesaurus (I mean right-clicking the word in Microsoft word is usually sufficient) to get more ideas of where I want to go with my paper and set what kind of "tone", but when wanting to this in Chinese, well even though I know there is written style for a commonly used word (like I saw it in a novel or something) I just cant think of it, but unlike in English, I can't find this word using the available resources! So frustrating! Because I know the stupid word is there! :x I actually have began a small list of synonyms and written words that I meet upon encountering or just write off the top of my head, for instance, I will start with a basic feeling or expression (sometimes just a character) and expand with many somewhat related expressions, like, 想,and then go to 思考 考虑 寻思 琢磨 斟酌 深思 揣摩 -- you know? Something like this, yes yes I know these words are greatly different, but they do share a fundamental base. However, obviously I can't do this for everything or else I would just spend all my time creating a thesaurus and not using these pretty words. It's understandable why Chinese is like this, as each character has a meaning in itself, it can be said that there truly is no "synonym" in Chinese. haha But I still think that they should be grouped together on the grounds of a basic fundamental expression or something... Anyone have any suggestions for me or insights this matter? Some kind of comparison or study between Chinese written and spoken word would just be sweet! Thanks HJ Quote

carlo Posted November 6, 2006 at 02:45 AM Report Posted November 6, 2006 at 02:45 AM Try 现代汉语分类词典, 汉语大词典出版社. A bit weak on 口语 though. Quote
