skryskalla Posted November 9, 2006 at 04:30 PM Report Posted November 9, 2006 at 04:30 PM Hello, The Ocrat Mirror project has been running for a little over a year now and has recently had a major update. For those not familiar, the Ocrat Mirror project is trying to recreate and improve the content of the Ocrat.com site which went offline in early 2005. The following sections are now all back online: Animated characters http://lost-theory.org/ocrat/chargif Animated GIFs that show the stroke orders for many simplified characters. Added a character search feature. Also includes revamped vocabulary sections (numbers, Chinese zodiac, 200 most common surnames, etc.) Voice of America News Broadcasts http://lost-theory.org/ocrat/voa News broadcasts (MP3s plus transcripts) in Mandarin Chinese from Voice of America. You can sort articles by date, length, and even the number of photographs in the article (sometimes it's easier to understand with pictures ) Pride & Prejudice http://lost-theory.org/ocrat/prideprej Full text of the novel Pride & Prejudice in English and Simplified Chinese. The texts are side by side, paragraph by paragraph, for easy comparison and study. Pronunciation Annotator http://lost-theory.org/ocrat/reaf Copy and paste some text and have it annotated with pinyin and links to sound clips of the pronunciation. Chinese text PNG generator http://lost-theory.org/ocrat/reaj Converts Chinese text to an image (PNG), with your choice of font, size, and color. Examples: Pride & Prejudice, Molihua, big Xi (囍). If you have any questions or comments please respond . Also, there are still many sites linking to the old ocrat.com site, which is no longer online. If you know of any sites linking to the old site I would be very grateful if you could let them know of the new location at the Ocrat mirror project. Quote
