Chinese food cultures assignment

Hi,

Im trying to do an assignment for my english language degree, and am finding it very difficult. i need to do a comparision of english and chinese food cultures. i am particularly interested in whether globalisation has occured in china as it has done in the UK. What i mean by this is, in the Uk it is difficult to think of typically english foods, and more over, it is unusual to eat such foods on a regular basis. for example, as a student living away from home i cook for myself and this is very rarely an 'english' meal. i often cook chinese, indian, mexican etc. I was wondering if this was the case in China, or whether people mainly stick to chinese food.

also, any help on the significance of food, traditional foods eaten would be greatly appreciated!! thank you
