Chinese Characters for a shirt

Hi,

My son is studing the Chinese language (Mandrin) and I thought I would suprise him with so tee shirts I am designing. I don't speakk or read Chinese. Can you please tell me if these are correct? I would like it to say: "I like cheese"

(this is a famliy joke)

Thank you but I am having a difficult time reading the characters in your note. If I assign numbers to my charcters 1,2,3,4 are you saying it should read: 1,4,2,3 ?

Indeed. I'm not sure that 奶酪 means cheese (I remember some confusion here), but I'm pretty sure I've never seen or heard 乳酪 used, except perhaps in Japanese.

I think the confusion is mostly caused because many Chinese people simply don't have a good concept of what cheese actually is, because it's so rarely used/seen in Chinese cooking. In fact most people probably know of it more from the book "Who moved my cheese" (and associated knock-off variants) which are reasonably popular in China. BTW, in the book title cheese gets translated as 奶酪。

Actually "乳酪“and ”奶酪“both mean cheese, and i dun think any one is more common than another one. we use both of them in our daily life, and i may use "乳酪” more often.

or you could make it even more random by writing something like

Haha, I like this one. But I thought 吉司 was more used in HK/Taiwan? I never really heard it on the mainland - though I would qualify that by saying in small town Hebei you didn't really hear 乳酪 or 奶酪 much either.

The carrefour order form uses 芝士, while the menu for my nearest sandwich shop has 奇士. I think it's partially a function of price - you can charge more for something if it sounds more foreign. Ferrero Rocher, anyone?

Why, it is called 金莎 in Hong Kong.

Re cheese, in Hong Kong it is very uniformly called 芝士. Another name I've seen (not in HK) is 起司.

Well thanks to all of you who have replied. I think I have a consensus. But I wonder if anyone would be willing to once more check the image attached. I had to hand copy the characters but I have no idea if I did it correctly. Will this look okay to those of you who can read Chineese?

No it is not ok. The characters are to be read from left to right and the one on the rightmost should in fact be put in the second place from left. Like this ->

我爱乳酪

(oh and that character is in simplified chinese and does not look very good IMHO)

Both your first and last images have the words in this order: 1,2,3,4.

The correct order for the sentence to make sense in Chinese is: 1,4,2,3.

but it seems like there is much controversy over this phrase and now the characters themselves. I copied Skylee's characters in pasted them into Word and noticed that the second character is of a different font than the other three and even to my untrained eye the difference is apparent. I was hoping to use that as my graphic but I need a graphic file (Jpeg, Tiff, Eps) for this project.

I am going to go out on a limb and ask if anyone would be willing to send me a file of the characters, either computer generated or drawn that, I can use? I need the images to be 10" wide at 300dpi. (Jpeg, Tiff, Eps) I can't think of any other way to do it.

As far as I can see it at the moment, it is perfect. Are we looking at different things (or someone may have edited it between your post and this post)?

You're right. I think skylee may have intentionally used a different font for the 2nd character to draw your attention to it. The font you used in your last post looks quite nice.
