Nick@Nite Posted November 17, 2006 at 11:32 PM Report Posted November 17, 2006 at 11:32 PM Hello, I just finished the Beijing Marathon last month and since then, I haven't been very motivated to continue my running. It was my seventh marathon and I am looking for a bit more motivation. I live in Tianjin and I am looking for some smaller races or something to prepare for before the Great Wall marathon in May. In the States, there is no shortage of 10k's 5k's and other races to get you motivated. Is there anything like that here?? BN Quote
Nikator Posted November 19, 2006 at 01:25 AM Report Posted November 19, 2006 at 01:25 AM I don't have any answers to your questions, I was just wondering about the Great wall marathon. Are you running on the wall, or just beside it? Quote
Nick@Nite Posted November 19, 2006 at 02:56 AM Author Report Posted November 19, 2006 at 02:56 AM You run on it for a short time. It's not a fast marathon because of so many hills. The web address is http://www.great-wall-marathon.com/ I think there is a couple of loops so you run, or rather climb, about four miles on the wall, twice. At least that is my understanding. I need to review the website more closely. BN Quote
skylee Posted November 19, 2006 at 02:54 PM Report Posted November 19, 2006 at 02:54 PM The Trailwalker is not a marathon, as it requires team work and the walk is 100 km long. It is however very popular and you, or the others, might just be interested. The next one will be held on 9-11 November 2007. Quote
roddy Posted November 19, 2006 at 03:24 PM Report Posted November 19, 2006 at 03:24 PM Has anyone already run / signed up for the Great Wall Ma®athon? I notice on the website it says Please note that entries to The Great Wall Marathon® can only be bought as part of a tour package, combining the marathon with a number of different tour options. and the local contact appears to be a travel agent, which does not bode well. Nick@Nite Posted November 20, 2006 at 02:25 PM Author Report Posted November 20, 2006 at 02:25 PM I just received an email from the race commitee. Apparently there is a way to avoid the tour package requirement if you can prove you are an offical expat with a visa which extends beyond six months. Quote
