pazu Posted March 15, 2004 at 12:18 PM Report Posted March 15, 2004 at 12:18 PM Hello, there was a free service (http://www.kanhan.com) that changed the fonts of Chinese into graphics so one can read Chinese without installing any fonts. But the service is no longer free and I'm wondering if there's any other free and similar service. Quote
geek_frappa Posted March 15, 2004 at 02:01 PM Report Posted March 15, 2004 at 02:01 PM NJStar Communicator 2.3 has a Universal Code Converter! It it can convert Chinese text to GIF files among other things. http://www.njstar.com/ i cannot find a similar product to what you are asking either that is free. (a lot of programmers are tired of the question, "if you are so smart, why are you not rich like Bill Gates?", so a lot more people will start charging for services like this...) Quote
nnt Posted March 15, 2004 at 03:17 PM Report Posted March 15, 2004 at 03:17 PM You just convert the document to Pdf format (readable by Adobe Acrobat). Freeware here: http://www.newfreeware.com/search.php3?q=Convert+PDF+to+txt Quote

pazu Posted March 16, 2004 at 05:09 AM Author Report Posted March 16, 2004 at 05:09 AM Thanks for all your input, but none seems to be useful to me... (hope I won't sound rude to say~~) Anyway, as to why I can't install the fonts, because I'm in Vietnam using computers at net cafes, some cafes restrict the user rights so I couldn't install or download anything, I think I can just ask them to unlock the computer and let me install the fonts, but what a trouble to explain to them what I wanted to do... Quest Posted March 16, 2004 at 03:42 PM Report Posted March 16, 2004 at 03:42 PM You can try by copy/paste to convert the Chinese text into .jpg images. How do you do that? Quote
nnt Posted March 16, 2004 at 05:11 PM Report Posted March 16, 2004 at 05:11 PM From Word (2000 etc...) you select the text you want and the Edit-> Copy From an image software like Paint, Irfanview, etc...you just do Edit-> Paste Then File-> Save as ... a .jpg file. It's the Office clipboard which makes the conversion. Quote
