Kiwijes Posted November 28, 2006 at 09:25 PM Report Posted November 28, 2006 at 09:25 PM Hi, I am going to need to get a Chinese Sim card to fit into my NZ Vodafone mobile for 5 months. Can anyone recomend what phone company to go with. All I will want it for is local calls and to text/sms New Zealand. I'm thinking prepay will be the way to go, but as I dont speak Chinese I am worried about how I am going to keep recharging my phone. Any suggestions as always appreciated! Quote
ineedsomecheese Posted November 28, 2006 at 11:47 PM Report Posted November 28, 2006 at 11:47 PM You're best bet is to find someone who can speak English and Chinese to help you... If you do this, make sure that the simcard will work anywhere in China, and not just in your city. I would go with China Mobile, just because they're the biggest carrier in China (I think). Quote
gougou Posted November 29, 2006 at 02:05 AM Report Posted November 29, 2006 at 02:05 AM The most commonly bought card for a foreigner is shenzhouxing (see this thread), although there have been issues with international sms. Quote
okokla Posted November 29, 2006 at 02:41 AM Report Posted November 29, 2006 at 02:41 AM There're many little shops in the street sale the card, you don't need prepay at all. Just decide which denomination you need,50RMB or 100RMB. Let me tell you: At first, you need a Number Card(includeing a sim in it),it gives you a number just like 139103XXXX1,in many cities ,it's free or 5-10RMB. Then, you need a recharging card, you can choose 50RMB or 100RMB. Quote
