林彪 Posted March 16, 2004 at 02:59 AM Report Posted March 16, 2004 at 02:59 AM That poem is a perfect example of why if the Chinese government were to abolish Chinese characters and make Pinyin the official written script, it would have to potential to be a complete disaster. Would you be able to make sense out of something like this? <<shī shì shí shī shì>> shí shì shī shì shī shì,shì shī,shì shí shí shī。shì shí shí shì shì shì shī。shí shí,shì shí shī shì shì。shì shí, shì shī shì shì shì。shì shì shí shī,shì shĭ shì,shĭ shì shí shī shì shì。shì shí shì shí shī shī,shì shí shì。shí shì shī,shì shì shì。 shì shĭ shì shí shí shī shī。shí shí, shĭ shí shí shī shī,shí shì shí shí shī shī。shì shì shì shì. :o Quote
ala Posted March 16, 2004 at 03:43 AM Report Posted March 16, 2004 at 03:43 AM Same in Japanese. Examples below are not quite as extensive as the "shishishi.." but they are more of complete normal sentences than the than the lion's tale: "ura niwa-niwa-niwa-niwa-niwa-niwa-niwa-tori ga iru" 裏庭に は 二羽、庭に は 二羽、鶏が いる。 uraniwa ni wa niwa, niwa ni wa niwa, niwatori ga iru. There are two chickens in the front yard and two in the back yard. Another famous one is "sumomomomomomomomonouchi" 李 も 桃 も 桃 の 家。 sumomo mo momo mo momo no uchi. Both plums and peaches are members of the peach family. And: 貴社 の 記者 が 汽車 で 帰社 した。 kisha no kisha ga kisha de kisha shita. Your company's journalist returned back by train. without Chinese characters: 1.うらにわにわにわにわにわにわにわとりがいる 2.すももももももももものうち 3.きしゃのきしゃがきしゃできしゃした Quote
