skylee Posted December 7, 2006 at 11:56 PM Report Posted December 7, 2006 at 11:56 PM It is reported in the news that Hong Kong has the highest net worth per capita in the world -> 聯合國大學研究所統計:香港人均財富冠全球 聯合國大學世界發展經濟研究所(WIDER)調查全球財富分配狀况,發現香港的人均財富淨值(net worth per capita)達20.2萬美元(157.7萬港元),是全球最高,較第二位的盧森堡高出一成,中國人均財富則為8.8萬港元。 1%。 Here is the report and here is the UN press release (in English). I'm not sure I understand what this indicator tells us, though. Quote
studentyoung Posted December 8, 2006 at 06:15 AM Report Posted December 8, 2006 at 06:15 AM I'm not sure I understand what this indicator tells us, though. I try to make it clear. Giving a detailed description of the methods used for data-gathering, Mr. Wolff defined household wealth as the sum of real property and financial assets, minus debts. http://www.un.org/News/briefings/docs/2006/061205_Household_Wealth.doc.htm According to what it tells us, you must first get the sum of Hong Kong’s real property and financial assets, and then minus Hong Kong government’s debts. What you get is Hong Kong’s household wealth. Next, the sum is divided into Hong Kong’s current population, and you will get the Hong Kong’s net worth pre capita. Now you know how to get other areas’ household wealth and their net worth pre capita, right? Put all the areas and countries’ household wealth together, and then you will the world’s household wealth. Is there anything you are unclear? Thanks! Quote
