Ian_Lee Posted December 8, 2006 at 07:49 PM Report Posted December 8, 2006 at 07:49 PM Even though Putonghua has been standardized as the national language, sign language for disabled has not been standardized yet. According to this report: http://bbs.spe-edu.net/dispbbs.asp?boardID=12&ID=9346 The disabled in China prefer to use their dialect-based sign languages. Moreover, the sign languages between Mainland and HK are as different as "One Country Two Systems" -- HK's system is not based on Hanyu Pinyin but alphabets used in sign language chart in U.S. Quote
skylee Posted December 9, 2006 at 12:17 AM Report Posted December 9, 2006 at 12:17 AM Thanks for posting. It has never occurred to me that the sign language also needs standardisation. "一般正常人很难想象聋哑人的世界,就手语而言,中国存在上海、北京、福建等各地的手语方言。" "上海聋人几乎都看不懂北京版的电视手语节目" Quote
