Ncao Posted December 25, 2006 at 07:21 AM Report Posted December 25, 2006 at 07:21 AM Really don't understand why these people make a fuss about it, Christmas is not even really considered as a holiday in China. There's no day off,no big parade or a big show like the Spring Festival . Do these people want to return to the pre-reform era? Forgot to wish everyone 聖誕快樂! Quote
Ian_Lee Posted December 25, 2006 at 11:17 AM Report Posted December 25, 2006 at 11:17 AM Two days after I expressed my opinion here, Ming Pao editorial repeated exactly what I said (even including Korea's preservation of Dragon Boat Festival): http://hk.news.yahoo.com/061224/12/1ytq5.html Quote
geraldc Posted December 26, 2006 at 05:55 AM Report Posted December 26, 2006 at 05:55 AM I'm spending the Xmas holiday in Hong Kong, and here it's a public holiday (and Boxing day too). Today I went out to look at the local Xmas decorations, and the local shopping centre in Hau Tak had a fantastic Xmas display. Rather than go with any traditional Xmas display, they'd invented a new holiday. A large sign over the stage proclaimed "Merry Spacemas", and rather than go with a traditional nativity or winter/Northpole and Santa Claus scene as would be expected in the West, the stage had a large space rocket, and featured Santa, Rudolph and his robot minions loading up the rocket. I wish you all a Merry Spacemas! Quote
Liang Jieming Posted December 28, 2006 at 05:42 AM Report Posted December 28, 2006 at 05:42 AM Why? Because Asians (not just the Chinese) can be very open-minded people. Quote
