What to do in Shanghai this January?

Can anyone suggest some interesting places to visit in Shanghai? I will only be there a couple weeks and want to find places that are not in all the guidebooks and have a more local feel. Markets, streets, restaraunts, etc. I found a few vendor markets in Beijing provided an excellent opportunity to practice my chinese and get some great bargins.
