How to say 'sensitive' in Chinese

i'm trying to find the right translation for "he is really sensitive", as in not the being-in-touch-with-your-feelings sentiment but the being-easily-offended kinda sentiment.

looking up 'sensitive' in the dictionary gives 易受伤的 or 敏感的 neither one of which is what i want to say. (the second phrase means something closer to 'allergic' or something right??)

can someone help out?

thanks in advance! =)

敏感 is the right word. A political issue can be very 敏感. A person who is easily offended is too 敏感. My skin is always a bit 敏感 in the winter.

It could do, but normally ' 过敏 ' is used for 'allergic'.

How about

心情好 as in he is a sensitive/soft hearted person

他的心情好,

Or in the he is too sensitive and explodes easily like Mr. Lawyer,

他太敏感的

他的脾气不好

在见

consider 體貼的人 / 心軟的人 / 心腸好(軟)的人 / 好心腸的人

sorry this is a bit late, but thanks for the input guys.. had always been under the impression that 敏感 meant allergic, thanks for clearing that up!

a friend mentioned to me that 小气 can also be used for sensitive. she said it was what they use in cantonese.. does it apply for mandarin too?

Yes. But personally I write it as 小器. I guess I am old-fashioned. This is from Xinhua Dictionary ->

小器

xiǎoqì

(1)

肚量浅窄、偏狭,也作“小气”

孔子鄙其小器。――宋·司马光《训俭示康》

(2)

(《论语·八佾》:“管仲之器小哉!”)

Doesn't xiao(3)qi(4) 小氣 mean "stingy"?

I guess stinginess is one kind of sensitivity...

Sorry if I mixed up something somewhere in amongst the simplified characters, I'm not good with them!

I agree with you on this. Along the line of this meaning, it can also of course be used for "petty", "narrow-minded", and so on.

wouldn't that just be 他太爱面子了...anyone who is like that is usually easy to offend.. or just 易生气..
