Xiao Kui Posted January 17, 2007 at 10:29 AM Report Posted January 17, 2007 at 10:29 AM abt 5 yrs ago I saw a news excerpt on Chinese TV (perhaps CCTV 9?) abt a foreigner who had joined the Chinese communist party - he was a young guy in his mid-30s, married to a Chinese lady, bright eyed, bushy-tailed and very excited abt his new membership. Nice propaganda piece, sorry I don't have more info for you. Quote
889 Posted January 17, 2007 at 10:39 AM Report Posted January 17, 2007 at 10:39 AM There's Sidney Rittenberg, though I doubt he was the one featured in that news story. Quote
Koneko Posted January 18, 2007 at 10:30 AM Report Posted January 18, 2007 at 10:30 AM So was he being used as a propaganda? Or a patriotic touchstone? Quote
889 Posted January 18, 2007 at 11:33 AM Report Posted January 18, 2007 at 11:33 AM I believe Rittenberg's the only American who was admitted to Party membership. His autobiography details it all, I recall. He's now a China business consultant back in the US. Quote
Koneko Posted January 18, 2007 at 02:29 PM Report Posted January 18, 2007 at 02:29 PM I believe Rittenberg's the only American who was admitted to Party membership. Oh yes, according to Wikipedia, Rittenberg was the only one.(sh) Quote
