How would you say the following in Chinese:

1) If you write certain accented characters (such as à) and chinese characters on the same page, the accented characters don't display properly.

2) I've been learning Chinese on and off for about 6 years.

I am not 100% sure but I think you may consider the followings:-

1) If you write certain accented characters (such as à) and chinese characters on the same page, the accented characters don't display properly.

要是你在同一页输入中文与重音符号的话，那重音符号是不会显示在荧光幕上的。

NB:Presumably, you were trying to explain this on a computer screen. I wasn't very sure, your sentence was a bit equivocal here.

2) I've been learning Chinese on and off for about 6 years.

我断断续续学了中文已有六年了。

I think if you want to say you've been studying chinese for six years you should say:

我断断续续学习中文已经六年了
