metallidude Posted January 21, 2007 at 04:02 PM Report Posted January 21, 2007 at 04:02 PM Hello I am interested in learning some of the Manchu language. I want to ask if anyone knows of any good online sources for learning Manchu that ARE in ENGLISH. I have already been to dozens of non-English sites about the Manchu language. Quote
djwebb2004 Posted February 18, 2007 at 11:33 AM Report Posted February 18, 2007 at 11:33 AM The only advice I can offer is to say that I met a Man in Kunming from Shandong whose family had forgotten their Manchu, but he went to Xinjiang to learn the Sibe/Xibo language from the descendants of Manchu soldiers there. Sibe is like a dialect of Manchu and is your best bet if you want to learn it rather than going to the very last village in the Dongbei where the old folk still preserve their Manchu... Quote
liaozhihan Posted November 30, 2021 at 02:30 AM Report Posted November 30, 2021 at 02:30 AM There are many online resources in English for Manchu. Here are a few: https://www.manchustudiesgroup.org/introduction-to-manchu-in-21-lessons/ - Introduction to Manchu in 21 Lessons https://app.memrise.com/course/2076404/manchu-language-manju-i-gisun/ - Memrise course of Manchu vocabulary https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Manchu - Wikibooks Manchu Course (this seems to be very lacking in material) https://repository.arizona.edu/bitstream/handle/10150/634350/azu_etd_17460_sip1_m.pdf?sequence=1 - Manju Tacire (Course developed as a thesis) There are many other English-language courses of the Manchu language, but these are just a few.
