A Chinese friend of mine wants to know how to say 怒放 (nu4 fang4) in English in an accurate but poetic/tidy way.

I think he's referring to the 汪锋 song 怒放的生命 which is quite a kick-ass song, although I can't understand a bit of it.

Can anyone help me with a good translation?

I fully agree with skylee but with the word in the present context, I think "exuberance" would be quite appropriate. If such a word is too mouthful, "joy" is then the simpler alternative.

Also from the lyrics, "An unfettered life" would be an appropriate translation for "怒放的生命".

All the above are, of course, only personal interpretations and if you ask 100 persons, you'd get at least 101 different interpretations

Exactly.

Alternatively, you may find the following adjectives helpful.

Radiant

Burgeoning

Lush

Luxuriant

Flourishing

Thriving

Rampant

Bouncing

Invigorated

Revived

Stimulated

Vigorous
