flameproof Posted January 26, 2007 at 03:50 AM Report Posted January 26, 2007 at 03:50 AM During one visit, some young punks were actually throwing big firecrackers at them. Come on! Don't be soooo boring! Pandas what to have some fun too! At least through some stones to make them dance. They like dancing a lot. Jump over the fence and hug the Pandas!!!!! Please ask a bystander to have it videoed. Your relatives can then upload it to Youtube after the mourning period. Quote
ABCinChina Posted February 4, 2009 at 10:16 AM Report Posted February 4, 2009 at 10:16 AM I just went to a Panda park for the first in my trip to Chengdu and they are very adorable in person. They have upped the price of hugging a baby panda to ¥1000 since too many people were hugging them and it was bad for them to have too much interaction with humans. The price used to be only ¥200. Here's some pictures... Quote
Lugubert Posted February 4, 2009 at 11:40 PM Report Posted February 4, 2009 at 11:40 PM I was talked into going to the panda park in Chengdu. I wasn't too impressed. The babies were kinda cute, but the more adult ones were just dull and clumsy, and they say they're quite smelly. Moreover, there are recent reports that one of them has been rather fiercely attacking visitors who have ignored warnings and jumped into the enclosures. I found it not at all difficult to resist getting close to their claws and teeth. Quote
ABCinChina Posted February 5, 2009 at 12:33 AM Report Posted February 5, 2009 at 12:33 AM Well, the grownups are definitely not as cute as the babies and probably "smelly" as they say. The fur gets stained by the urine and feces so it is not black/white but rather black/yellow. But if they were to be washed regularly like the babies, I doubt they'd be so smelly. (Though it's difficult to wash a grown panda since they're still wild animals) Quote

Here's some pictures... I'm sure it has nothing to do with 1000 yuan being significantly more money than 200. Well as long as it goes toward their care and not into the pockets of corrupt people. BrandeX Posted February 5, 2009 at 11:53 AM Report Posted February 5, 2009 at 11:53 AM After going to the animal penitentiary... er zoo here, I find that to be probably unlikely. Quote
ABCinChina Posted February 5, 2009 at 01:19 PM Report Posted February 5, 2009 at 01:19 PM (edited) Why is everyone so negative in this thread? You guys are being un-pandarific! Why don't you just let Panda Baba turn that frown upside-down. Edited February 5, 2009 at 01:39 PM by ABCinChina Quote
zerolife Posted February 10, 2009 at 09:00 PM Report Posted February 10, 2009 at 09:00 PM i think you used to be able to volunteer their for a few days and even feed the panda. not sure whether it's still possible after the earthquake Quote
johnotvi Posted March 24, 2009 at 11:42 AM Report Posted March 24, 2009 at 11:42 AM I like the Panda Research Station very much at Chengdu. It is a great place to see all the Pandas, including baby Pandas in the nursery. It is possible to hold a Panda Bear as shown in the picture. Whilst visiting the Pandas in Chengdu, check out the many other great things to see in Sichuan. Quote
