skylee Posted January 23, 2007 at 10:52 AM Report Posted January 23, 2007 at 10:52 AM IIRC there are already other threads on this subject. These are among those mentioned - http://cdict.giga.net.tw/ http://sh.dict.cn/en/search/ Quote
HashiriKata Posted January 23, 2007 at 11:49 AM Report Posted January 23, 2007 at 11:49 AM Just tried out the two dictionaries mentioned by skylee and discovered one weekness common to both of them: http://cdict.giga.net.tw/ doesn't understand simplified characters. http://sh.dict.cn/en/search/ doesn't understand traditional characters. It's regrettable, but maybe this is the reason we need both? Quote
L-F-J Posted January 23, 2007 at 02:21 PM Report Posted January 23, 2007 at 02:21 PM i use mdbg.net for general look-up and translation. and xiaoma cidian for looking up every possible compound a single character is found in. Quote
Lu Posted January 23, 2007 at 03:36 PM Report Posted January 23, 2007 at 03:36 PM I use the Baidu dictionary a lot. Zhongwen.com doesn't have many translations, but is fantastic for finding characters. Quote
jak__ Posted January 24, 2007 at 08:39 AM Report Posted January 24, 2007 at 08:39 AM When I need to find obscure characters I go to wiktionary.org or www.zdic.net. Quote
