jj Posted March 23, 2004 at 03:25 AM Report Posted March 23, 2004 at 03:25 AM People interested in education and education reform may be interested to learn about the reforms happening in CASS (Chinese Academy of Social Science). The administration is trying to undertake some pretty drastic reforms, akin to the restructuring of labor relations in SOEs. I don't want to clutter the forum with the texts, but if you're interested, please go to: www.chinastudygroup.org, where there is a brief intro and a letter from several scholars at CASS discussing the changes. roddy Posted March 23, 2004 at 09:54 AM Report Posted March 23, 2004 at 09:54 AM It's interesting stuff. I find it difficult to say whether its a case of the administration trying to look efficient and slimmed-down and going to far or academics getting scared as their iron rice bowls get taken away. These do look pretty drastic though. Roddy Quote
jj Posted March 23, 2004 at 08:39 PM Author Report Posted March 23, 2004 at 08:39 PM Roddy, No one has iron rice bowls in China anymore. They do not exist to be taken away. Everyone has labor contracts, which are made of paper, not iron. jj Quote
