xuechengfeng Posted January 30, 2007 at 07:09 AM Report Posted January 30, 2007 at 07:09 AM How far is this airport from the main airport in Beijing? Any ideas of how much a taxi from here to the main airport would be? The difference between a flight from Harbin to Beijing Nanyuan and Beijing Capital is about 500 rmb. I'm imagining a taxi from Nanyuan to Capital isn't 500 yuan, so it's probably a better idea, but just curious to know how long it takes since I have to catch an international flight back to the states. roddy Posted January 30, 2007 at 07:21 AM Report Posted January 30, 2007 at 07:21 AM It's pretty far - the other side of the city more or less. See here, which puts it 15km south of the center. Capital Airport is to the north-east. Say a taxi into the center costs you 100Y, by then the meter's going to be at 3Y/k, so the extra 15km will bring it up to 150Y. That's really a complete guess though (sh). Also on that route you'd probably be better off taking a ring road around the center, so distances are hard to guess. If money is an issue (must be if you are considering an airport hardly anyone has even heard of, btw) you could get the airport bus to the CAAC building in Xidan, from where airport buses to Nanyuan also leave. Nanyuan is tiny though, and I wouldn't be surprised if airport buses don't run due to low demand, or if taxi drivers don't know where it is, etc. Has anyone actually flown from there? Quote
gougou Posted January 30, 2007 at 07:23 AM Report Posted January 30, 2007 at 07:23 AM Nanyuan is 13km south of Tiananmen, Capital Airport is approx. 20km from the city. Give or take, you'd be looking at about 40kms between the two. This site can't quite make up its mind whether you should bring 100 or 300 kuai for that. Either way, it is definitely going to be under 500. Quote
onebir Posted January 30, 2007 at 06:40 PM Report Posted January 30, 2007 at 06:40 PM I wouldn't be surprised... if taxi drivers don't know where it is I asked a taxi driver to take me to the north gate of BEIHAI PARK once & he didn't know where it was... Traffic aside, if you plan to transit between the two airports build in some time for finding a taxi driver who's heard of it. (& bring a map I guess...) Quote

I'd be surprised if he happened on a taxi driver who didn't know the Capital Airport. Quote
roddy Posted January 31, 2007 at 04:24 AM Report Posted January 31, 2007 at 04:24 AM I'd misread and thought he was going Capital to Nanyuan, rather than vice versa. North gate of Beihai as generally known (to taxi drivers at least, it seems) as 后门 - I've asked for the north gate before and had to wait while they draw a mental map of central Beijing and then say 'Ah, you mean 后门.' I didn't take many taxis though, so maybe he was an exception... Quote
