That's a transliteration of your name. I'm not a native speaker, but [pop=Lei Za/léi zā]雷扎[/pop] [pop=法希姆/fǎxīmǔ]法希姆[/pop] seems fine to me. With a transliterated name, the characters chosen aren't as significant as they would be in a real Chinese name, and there are several that are comminly used such as "法" in your name here.

Here are some brief definitions from chinese-tools.com:

雷1扎2法3希4姆5

1.雷 léi (surname) / thunder

2.扎 zhā to prick / to run or stick (a needle, etc.) into zhá penetrating (as of cold) / struggle zā tie with string or ribbon / bind with rope or cord / to stopzā to tie / to bind

3.法 fǎ law / method / way / Buddhist teaching / Legalist / France (abbrev.)

4.希 xī rare / infrequent

5.姆 mǔ governess

But how about something like [pop=lucky/ruì]瑞[/pop][pop=beneficence/zé]泽[/pop] or [pop=astute/ruì]睿[/pop][pop=beneficence/zé]泽[/pop] for "Reza"? Something using "Rui Ze" or "Rui Za"? Perhaps someone else could suggest something?

Also, what is the purpose of the name? I have a transliteration of my name which would used be on docments such as business card, but most people call me by a two-character abbreviation of my given name as anything else would be too long.

How about:

方睿赞

方 = Chinese surname, Fang (Close to your surname's first syllable)

睿 = Far-sighted, Rui

赞 = Praise, Zan

you mean i use fang as may surname and ruizan as my first name?

it sounds good but does ruizan have a meaning in chinese? i mean can it be used as a proper chinese name?

First name suggestion:

日哲

日 = sun (ri4)

哲 = philosophy, wise (zhe2)

Sounds very close to "reza", translation is "the day is wise" or "the date is wise".

Then add your own last name, if you so desire.

not necessarily includes the family name,

"赞" is a positive word (means praise),but occurs rarely in people's name

Also, Chinese names have 2 or 3 characters, that includes the family name.

Names with 4 characters, e.g. 歐陽菲菲, are not uncommon.

Right! You may choose Fang as your surname and Ruizan as your given name.

"赞" is a positive word (means praise),but occurs rarely in people's name

It's true but everyone has his right to be different. :wink:
